She recognizes that ‘5 quick steps to mindfulness’ and other easy ‘fixes' are an attempt to pacify the societal oppression of certain individuals and their communities. Whereas healing is a journey balancing joy and grief, openness and guardedness, and maintaining a balance of awareness and vigilance in a world that is not always safe.
